Northwest Atlantic (Canada) Inc. opened its first Canadian office in Toronto, Ontario in 1991 under the direction of partners Sam Winberg and Tim Sanderson. With a view to create a truly national platform, in 1996, Northwest Atlantic expanded operations across Canada with the opening of a Vancouver, British Columbia office. Under the direction of west coast partners Scott Lee and Christopher Wood, this expansion further established Northwest Atlantic as the dominant retail tenant mandate firm in Canada.
In 2002 the Northwest Atlantic Mall Services Division is established under the direction of Dianne Lemm, Vice-President, Mall Services. Dianne quickly formed an impressive group of experienced leasing professionals assisting many leading North American mall-based retailers with their real estate strategies for expansion across Canada.
In 2004 Dianne Lemm becomes Partner, Mall Services and is joined by new Partner, David George (formerly of The Leasing Groups, established in 1993). Dianne and David, along with their team of leasing professionals, represent an impressive and expanding list of clients including many of North America’s leading retail banners.
In 2008 Northwest Atlantic created the Project Support Services (“PSS”) Division with representation in both the Toronto and Vancouver offices. This division was created to provide marketing and leasing services to new retail developments across Canada as well as providing an enhanced level of service and market research capability to our existing retail tenant mandates.
By concentrating on retail and retail only, Northwest Atlantic continues to be the leading retail real estate service provider in Canada. The principle of focusing on a client’s overall business objectives and strategy, rather than on a specific deal, has been key to Northwest Atlantic’s on-going success.
